Yoga9:30 AM to 10:30 AMViniyoga specifically recognizes that there are different practices needed at different stages of life. And, if you’re in the “householder” or “elder” phase your practice needs to be different from the “youth” or “student” phase. These classes are geared to people in the householder or elder stage.
No special equipment is needed though it is recommended to wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. The entire class will be taught with students sitting in or standing next to a chair. Different variations will be provided to allow people with different joint problems and other health conditions to participate. There is an emphasis on breathing so the breath supports the postures. Each class will include some meditative practices that are unique to yoga, such as visualizing a flowing brook or full moon or placing the palms of the hands over the eyes or the heart.
Instructor, Deborah Layton, has been a yoga practitioner for 25 years, a teacher since 2004, and is currently in a 1000 hour yoga therapy training.
