Deborah Layton

Chair Yoga is a 45-minute class that adapts traditional yoga practice with seated and standing yoga postures with a chair. We begin each class with attention to the breath and proceed through a variety of postures that include forward bends, side bends, twists, and some back arches that move the spine and limbs in all directions. Modifications are provided for those with movement limitations. Each class ends with a meditative practice to send us forward into the day with a better outlook.

Deborah Layton has been practicing yoga since 1995 and teaching since 2004. She teaches in the Viniyoga tradition as taught by T. Krishnamacharya and his son T.K.V. Desikachar who believed yoga should be adapted to the individual and guide the person to a more quiet mind. She is finishing a 1000 hour yoga therapy program in this tradition in 2021.
