Missions and Activities

Missions and Activities

Assisting the children's department with Operation Christmas Child has been an enjoyablel tradition for the past few years. The youth raise money, get together, and shop to fill shoeboxes with gifts. Later they get together with the Mighty Missionaries to pack boxes.

People who donate blood at Spruce Street United Methodist Church often can count on the Youth to welcome them with a parking pass before the procedure and homemade cookies after the procedure. During the summer months or days when school is out, if the Blood Mobile is visiting the church, the youth greet and sign in guests.

When they want to go to Rally on the Mountain or Fall Workshop, the youth are willing to work to raise funds - and they have fun while working.

The church has been begun depending on the young people to beautify the outside: During spring and autumn, they follow master gardner Kay Beamer's instructions by digging, mulching, and weeding in front, and on the sides of the building. Many people who stroll along Spruce Street can enjoy the flowers and hedges.

Watch the church homepage and the weekly bulletin for activities. Contact Sarah Allen for information: 304-292-3359.

The group shares a lot of activities with neighbors Wesley United Methodist Youth.

Find pictures of youth activities on Facebook.

Sunday School

The Youth Group meets for Sunday School every Sunday from 9:30-10:30 downstairs in the youth room. The class is taught by Bob Jones and is open to anyone in 6th through 12th grades.

This is what Bob shares about the class: "We've taken to thinking of ourselves as "The Transformers" and encourage that brand for the class.

The 6th-12th Graders' class meet in the Youth Room on the Lower Level of the church.
