In 1972, numerous Ladies’ Aid Societies with common faith and mission-minded purpose combined to become the United Methodist Women. The United Methodist Church General Conference voted to make the mission organization an autonomous policy-making agency in 2012. Now, ten years later, the United Methodist Women have become United Women in Faith. For more information about this change, please visit: United Women in Faith

New Book Club Begins January 21st! The United Women in Faith have a reading program to help enlighten members on issues that encircle their purpose and mission. The goal is to read from each category: Education for Mission, Leadership Development, Nurturing for Community, Social Action, and Spiritual Growth. The plan numbers completed depend on how many books a person reads in each category in one year. To inspire members to read, the Mon Valley District UWF have begun a reading club! Our first book is Daughter of Cana by Angela Hunt (Minneapolis : Bethany House, 2020; ISBN: 9780764233845). We plan to meet at Spruce Street UMC Seekers Hall on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 6PM to 8PM to discuss the book. Anyone who cannot meet in person can find us on Zoom (address to be announced by email later). The book is available at Amazon in print, eBook, and audio. Barnes and Noble has it also. The book Daughter of Cana is in the Spiritual Growth category. We plan to meet every other month, to allow members to complete a book every 8 weeks. Anyone who reads the book can join in our discussion on January 21!
